Welcome to the exhibit featuring "Reversed Window," a site-specific installation crafted from cardboard and MDF. This piece is displayed within a showcase that unveils a new artist's work every Thursday evening. I was invited by Annemarie Slobbe to participate, marked as Exchange Number 848.
In conceptualizing this work, I was intrigued by the interplay of space and light within the vitrine. Noticing the stark emptiness of the white interior, accentuated by two large fluorescent lights at the window, I aimed to highlight the inherent spatial dynamics.
I've constructed a hollow structure that conceals the fluorescent tubes, featuring a centrally positioned cut-out rectangle. This rectangle is precisely 1/10th the size of the windowpane, drawing attention to the ambient illumination cast by the concealed lights within the enclosed space.
"Reversed Window" invites viewers to reconsider the role of light in defining and animating space, transforming the vitrine into a stage for the interplay between illumination and architectural form. Experience the captivating interplay of light and space within this innovative installation, where emptiness becomes a canvas for the dance of luminescence and shadow.
